Tell us about yourself:

I took college course throughout my military career before I retired. Someone wise said, “You really never stop learning throughout life.” So, why not apply that to a college education today?

What prompted you to return to school? My job is the main reason, plus the encouragement from family and friends who know my potential to accomplish more out of life; that is the greatest reason! Competition for jobs is high and the economy is not improving, giving us all a reason to seek higher education.

Why did you choose Grantham University ?

What military education benefits, such as the GI Bill, did you use?

G.I. Bill; The Post 9-11 GI Bill covers all of my school expenses, which gives me no excuse to not further my education.

What has your experience been like as a student?

It has been a breath of fresh air with outstanding support from my great student advisor to the dedication of the faculty. The professors have all been great and easy to work with to include some military veterans (heroes) among them.

What challenges did you have adjusting to campus culture after military life?

Not really as much for me because I took college course throughout my military career before I retired. Someone wise said, “You really never stop learning throughout life.” So, why not apply that to a college education today??!!

Do you believe your military experience has made you a better student?

I would definitely agree that the military prepares you for many of life’s great adventures; however, seeking higher education is something that you should want to do and not need to do. Meaning- don’t add unwanted stress upon yourself if your mind is not focused for the mission.

What advice do you have for veterans returning to school?

Take it slow and set achievable goals for yourself. Never be afraid to ask for help and always give it your best.

Additional comments:
