The hundreds of service members and veterans enrolled at Regis University may have been drawn there by values that parallel those they live by in the military. Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the Jesuit university has nearly 1,400 military students using their education benefits at the school’s four campuses.

“Military students find the core values they’ve earned within their service align very well with those practiced within our Jesuit educational institution. Devoting yourself to the service of others, honor bound to a community and the selfless act of building a better world; these are just a few of the mission-oriented ideas that we touch upon to help you transition from a successful service into a thriving civilian career,” says John R. Sweet, director of Regis Military & Veteran Services.

Regis University is one of 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States whose values-centered education shapes intelligent decision-making and strengthens commitment to community service, Sweet says.

The university offers more than values at its campuses along the Front Range. Regis offers campus, online and hybrid degree and certificate programs in computer and information sciences, business, counseling, education, health care and social sciences. In all, it has more than 100 programs to choose from.

Specifically for the military, Regis University offers veterans and military members generous credit transfer policies, credit for military experience and training, an Office of Military and Veterans Services, two on-campus Veteran Resource Centers, robust online programs, and Yellow Ribbon participation for select academic programs. It offers tuition discounts to active military students for select programs and has a chapter of the Student Veterans Association.

“We believe that the veterans in our community are educators and advocates, innovators and leaders; they are our parents, brothers, sisters, and friends,” says Sweet. “At Regis University, they’re also students looking to transform their vast experiences into successful careers through the practical, career-focused programs they find within our classrooms. We seek to provide veterans and active duty members all of the opportunities that a college degree affords so they can fulfill their professional and personal goals as they transition into the next stage of their lives.”
