Troy Shullick retired from the Air Force in June 2021 after 24 years. He spent the first 13 years as Security Forces (military police) and the last 11 in recruiting. His military service sent him around the world and gave him a lot of experience, especially in leadership, management and recruitment. Shullick completed a master’s degree in Justice Studies in 2017. When he put in for retirement in 2020, he decided to participate in a SkillBridge program with the Veteran’s Leadership Program in Pittsburgh, Pa. VLP is a nonprofit organization that helps homeless veterans find housing and secure employment. While in this SkillBridge program Shullick attended several virtual hiring events and webinars where he came across CarMax. After reaching out to a hiring manager to learn more about CarMax, he presented a role they had that he felt would be a good fit for Shullick. This role was a Senior Recruiter of Technology and Military Sourcing. He interviewed for the role and was hired when he began his terminal leave in March 2021.
