From Platoon To Pin-up

PinUps For Vets

In 2006 Gina Elise began to notice reports of under-funding for military veteran healthcare programs and started brainstorming of ways she could help. She wanted to be able to raise money for the healthcare programs, while also being able to provide some of the older, bedridden veterans a visitor or two.

And so, Pin-Ups For Vets was born.

Pin-Ups For Vets recreates the vintage pin-up calendars that were popular in the 1940s, using military veterans as the models, and sells them as gifts for wounded soldiers in hospitals and troops deployed over seas. Aiming to honor her late grandfather, who served in the Army during World War II, Elise drew inspiration from the romance of his era.

Now in its 12 year of production, the tasteful Pin-Ups For Vets calendar has raised over $56,000, which has been distributed to veterans hospitals nationwide to be used for new, state-of-the-art rehab equipment.

Hoping to improve the quality of life of wounded or sick veterans, the Pin-Ups For Vets team has also visited more than 11,000 veterans at their bedsides in VA Hospitals across 31 states.
