DHL | Translating military terminology into civilian. Civilian employees do not always know the differences between MOS and their job responsibilities.

DHL | Forgetting what it was like to be a civilian. They should be confident in everything they have done, not just their military experience.

DHL | Relocating is not essential, but if there is interest we would encourage it.
G.I. Jobs • What types of positions does your company recruit military for?
DHL | Couriers, sales professionals, operations managers, IT, customer service.
G.I. Jobs • Describe one of these positions (responsibilities, daily duties, working hours, etc.).
DHL | An operations supervisor often equates to a platoon leader, responsible for the supervision of 10-20 couriers and all of their assorted customer service delivery and pick-up duties.
G.I. Jobs • Can a new hire stay in this position for an entire career or do you require new hires to “move up or move out” like the military does?
DHL | They can, but most will accept more responsibility and move on to different assignments when they come available.
G.I. Jobs • What is the average starting pay for an operations supervisor?
DHL | $40-$45k

DHL | We have the full range. Those mentioned are just a few. We also have sick days, tuition reimbursement and 401(k) plans.
G.I. Jobs • Describe a typical career progression for this position.
DHL | The next step would be cartage manager or station services manager, then a district manager, and after several years of achievement a regional service manager up to VP level.

DHL | We don’t track veteran status, but it’s safe to say that a good percentage of our employees, at all positions, are veterans.

DHL | Yes.

DHL | Veterans are an invaluable resource to any corporation. When interviewing for a job, be as professional as you would be to another soldier, sailor, airman or marine. Your candor will earn you respect from the first minute.
